History
The Essendon District Netball Association, formerly known as Victorian Baptist Churches of Christ and Affiliated Churches Netball Association, was first established in 1946, making it one of the oldest predominately female sporting associations in Australia.
Clubs from all over the Melbourne metropolitan area – from Sandringham to the Yarra Valley to Macleod to Williamstown - participated in organised netball (called “women’s basketball” until the early 1960’s) competition for many decades.
Over time, with the growth in participant numbers, our member clubs spawned their own associations and organised play in geographical regions, thereby fostering the development of netball in Melbourne.
Since the late 1970s has been based at Aberfeldie Primary School (Moonee Valley - Essendon) with various and significant development in facilities, organisational structures, club membership and vision.
Today, Essendon District Netball Association continues to adhere to our community focused, inclusive and developmental values.
“Essendon District Netball Association – Moonee Valley’s netball association and one of world's oldest. Generations of players and families have found the love for netball community here.”
